They Race What? Snowmobile Drag-Racing Footage From National Trail Raceway In Ohio

Spring has appeared. Cute baby animals are checking out their home planet for the first time. Lawn-mowing season is here, and the smell of freshly cut grass permeates the neighborhood air. Flowers are in bloom, bees are pollenating everything in sight, and those with seasonal allergies are enjoying the sights from their houses as they wait for their allergy meds to kick in. And the temperature is warming up, too, which means that it is time to put up the snowmobile for the season in the lower 48 states, right? NOPE. Just because the snow is gone from pretty much everywhere except some random sections of New England doesn’t mean that it’s time to put the sled up, it just means that you need to dig out the wheeled skis for the front and haul the beast to the dragstrip for some runs! This footage, shot by YouTuber Wrench Moran, is from National Trail Raceway near Hebron, Ohio. With 8-second quarters and trap speeds well over 15o mph, this is a great way to keep the snowmobile ready for next winter!

WTF is a snowmobile? Surely you mean snowmachine! Quick tip on remembering the difference, a “mobile” is what you hang over a baby’s crib, a “machine” is a toy for adults!

Northerner jokes aside, I miss riding “sleds”. There were drag races like this but it was more fun to drag race someone up the side of a mountain. I rode a 700cc Polaris that was unstoppable in powder.

First saw snowmobiles race at Englishtown (NJ). I laughed when they approached the start line. Could not believe how fast they were in the 1/4 mile. Less than 11 seconds.
