We think that there are times where you need to look past the performance angle of some cars and just appreciate them for that what they are. This 1967 Chevelle street freak is certainly one of those. With chromed parallel leaf springs up font, a beam axle, and dual carbs atop the blower that force feeds the 427 engine, we’re just in love with this thing. Oh, we forgot to mention how good the fit, finish, and paint are on this car as well. This thing was built to the nines with chromed ladder bars and a nicely trimmed interior.
We dig lots of stuff about this car but the front and rear tire combo may be our favorite thing. Big but not super giant tires on the back, Cragar S/S wheels all around, and a generally purposeful 1970s look to the stance have us fully in love with this square ’67. This car is cool again because we’re reentering that life period where guys who were in love with these cars as kids can afford to have them now. We have no idea when this car was built but for many years that style of car would not have been anything but something to poke at during a car show or cruise. Now the look waxes nostalgic for an era that people loved and long to relive. Funny how that works, right?
The engine is a 468 with a Weiand blower, a Turbo 400, and a Ford 9″ rear axle with 3.73 gears in the center section. All those parts and pieces mean that this car could mangle tires at will and provide a lot of fun miles on the street. The ad says the car only has 1,600 miles on it, which may be true. No, you are never going to win a road race with a beam axle up front but this car was designed to be cruised, driven, and maybe even dragged a little. Overall we think this is a way cool car! (It would be better without the yellow on the interior thought!!!)

Kinda OK – – but way too many competing themes going on. Its a fairly current build, but it don’t really know what it wants to be when it grows up.
The digital dash and billet stuff says 2000s street rod, the beam axle says 1960s gasser, the blower with the fake scoop says late 70s Pro Street. The interior says I have run out of taste, and the shifter says “I drive a Peterbuilt”.
Personally I think the quick fix in my eyes would be a pair of velocity stacks, some vintage style valve covers, a stock style master cylinder, a Super Shifter, and a normal dash – – and a can of black vinyl paint for the chairs. If budget allowed I would either go rear mount for the rack & pinion – or loose it altogether so the straight axle was cleanly showing front and center.
I agree that it is a bit of a mishmash of styles. I’ve seen worse though, a yellow 65 Falcon convertible comes to mind. A tube chassis/front end with a solid axle is sort of odd, and the yellow seats would be better in solid black, and that shifter needs to go, but overall the look works. Its a helluva lot better than that awful Grenade-a that was posted the other day.
