When we look back at the muscle car era, there are certain things that we like, certain things that we love, and certain things that stop us in our tracks. When we see any car with the words Motion Phase III involved we stop, drop, and roll. These were arguably the hairiest, nastiest, and most gnarly versions of factory muscle cars sold to the public through the 1960s and into the early 1970s before the government shut Joel Rosen and his operation down. The emerald green Camaro you will see below is one of these cars. A 1968 Motion Phase III Camaro with a built 427, 950 CFM Holley 3bbl carb, a four speed manual transmission, traction bars, and enough horsepower to literally swallow anything dumb enough to try to out run it has found its way to eBay.
This car is for sale in New Hampshire and in a completely random twist, I kind of know the guy that is selling it. You’ll see his name listed some of the documents to prove the car’s authenticity and I know him from his drag racing exploits at New England Dragway. He’s also got a trailer sales business and my own pop has bought trailers from him. Kind of cool, but way off topic.
This car is in wonderful shape, right down to the side pipes. When you look at the exhaust plumbing involved with the side pipes it seems pretty much impossible that they actually add horsepower but we’re guessing that this thing sounds like the monster that we think it is when that 427 is allowed to breathe deep.
About the only real change the seller made was to swap the Vertigate shifter for a more traditional piece for street driving. He kept the Vertigate so if you are that hardcore and want to go all the way back to correct, you can. We love the color combo and the overhead shot of the car with the stinger hood and the single stripe is just fantastic.
Also, you wheel freaks out there will pick up on the fact that these are right “right” Torque Thrust wheels and not the more modern “updated” variety. Every inch of this car is freaking awesome. If you have $100,000 it could be yours!

I go nuts for Motion cars too. Don’t know why there are not more tribute cars. I would like to do up a 1970 Camaro in full Motion vibe!
Its the way I too would want a 70-73 camaro. Even a 74 would look good.
Back in the early 70s a guy had a 69 Motion Camaro in my home town Kearney, Nebraska. 427 automatic bad-ass car.
I didn’t any confirmation from Joel Rosen, owner of Motion Performance. He has all the info on every car he produced.
So is this car real? Usually Motion cars go for double or triple over the owner’s asking price.
I remember this car from an article in Hot Rod in the 80’s it was once owned by Reggie Jackson and was the first time I had heard of 3 barrel carb .
It looks to me to be a tribute to a 1969 Camaro that Motion built for a guy in Mexico. Had the same color scheme. For $100,000 that is not a real Motion built car.
