Ever see a car and think, “I know just the guy!” That is the mental revelation I have when Andrew Banks sent a note to the BangShift tip line alerting us to this wild coffin based hot rod that is for sale. Who is the guy? It is Alan Reinhart, the voice of the NHRA. Most people do not know that Alan owned one of the nicest classic Cadillac hearses in America last year. This thing was radical and perfect in every way. The thing even had a coffin in it. Either way, the car was so nice that it caught the eye of a Pro Stock racer who decided he could not live without it and poof..it was gone. Alan got the money but he also had a small hole in his soul (ok, the man does not have a soul but it sounded better than gall bladder) where that car once was. Well, what better way to step up from a hearse than to a hot rodded casket?!
This car offers an open air driving experience, a seat comfortable enough to spend the rest of eternity in, a tunnel ram equipped small block, the basic suspension layout of a front engine dragster and the protection of a roll cage. It has room for one person and for where this machine is bound to end up, that is plenty. As far as coffin based hot rods go, this one seems like a pretty nice one. We’re not experts in the field but we know quality when we see it and the fact that the coffin does not have a bunch of scratch marks on the lid, no obvious signs of spatter anywhere, tell us that the whole thing is legit.
