Tommy Lee Byrd, the Hot Rod Hoarder, is back at it with another project to save and this one is going to make you smile. It’s an old funny car go-kart, with the Pepsi Challenger livery, that he and his son recently picked up and are trying to bring back to life. The easy way to go about it would be to sand the thing down and give it a new paint job, but that isn’t how Tommy rolls.
Check this thing out and how they work on it to get down to the original finish to try and keep it as original as possible. It’s certainly not the easy way, but it sure shows dedication. We can’t wait to see this mini funny car revival.
Video Description:
Pepsi Challenger Funny Car Go Karts were promotional pieces to replicate the famous Pontiac Firebird funny car campaigned by Don “The Snake” Prudhomme in 1982. We happened to find a rough body on Facebook Marketplace locally for $100 so Carlee and I pooled our money together and grabbed it. Then, we spent a few days sanding away the spray paint to reveal the original paint and decals underneath. It was a long process that we later found a shortcut on, but we had a good time with it. Isaac joined in for a lot of this project as well.
