This Flip-Top KELLISON Drag Car is a WILD 1960’s Creation – Zorro’s Charger Is Something Special

We featured this car almost 10 years ago after seeing it at the National Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, but it has been several years since I saw it last. We’ve got a link below to see that feature and photo gallery, and our dude Tommy Lee Byrd’s video of course. This car is super rad and we love that Tommy got to catch up with it and share some more history. Check it out.

Video Description:

Kellison drag cars are RARE and always interesting, but this one is WILD! Dr. Randall Zorn, an optometrist from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, had this Kellison built in the 1960’s. It has a custom dual rail round tube chassis, with a narrowed Olds rear end, DZ302 engine and clutch-turbo transmission. Although it looks like a funny car, this Kellison never ran nitro methane or a supercharger, so it often ran in the C/Altered class.
