This Ford-Powered Holden Became The Fastest Barra Six-Cylinder In Australia On It’s First Pass Out!

If you want to start some serious conflict while you are in the land down under, cross-breed a Holden and a Ford. You aren’t going to win on either side of the coin, and unlike Mustang faithful who see an LS block in between the shock towers, there is a strong chance that some of the locals are going to do a fair bit more than bitch on Internet forums about it. What’s the running joke about Bathurst? Something about a brawl between Holden and Ford fans, with an intermission that features an automobile race, I believe? Right…well, what do you think the chances are that this Holden VC Commodore, which packs a 4.0L Barra six and a turbo big enough to suck small birds out of flight with, has caused more strife on Australian soil (and web forums) than any other car in recent memory? Fast is fast, but brand loyalty runs deep for some…

What, that bloke put a Ford motor in his Commodore, that’s just not done in Australia. The next thing you’ll tell me he’s never eaten Vegimite.

    Good on yer, mate!

This is compensation for that LS-powered Mustang and show that Aussies can recognise a truly great motor when they see one!

yeh… don’t believe the hype too much about this – yes there is rivalry but its nowhere near as bad as it was in the 70’s..GM guys will still thumbs up a nice GT or coupe these days but when I was younger (mid 70’s ) I’ve seen guys get their heads kicked in for wearing a Ford or Holden jacket…
