This Turbo Big Block Chevy Powered Altered: A Bad Ass Handful Of FAST! (Video)

We saw lots of altereds last weekend at the 2013 California Hot Rod Reunion but not a one of them had a big block Chevy equipped with a single 118mm inlet size turbo. This one from Australia is so equipped and according to the description on the video, it is has run into the 6.30s at more than 225mph on its best pass. During the video, you won’t see it run that quick or fast but you will see it go into the 6-second zone and over 200mph. Being that this is an altered, it handles like a shopping cart and the driver is definitely earning his pay on every lap. The unrelenting power of the turbo rat motor makes this car more of a handful than most. Unlike a belt driven blower that is basically “on” from the time that the car starts turning the tires off the starting line, the turbo engine makes the power on a different curve. It really seems like the big slicks are about to bust into smoke at any and every point down the track!

The displacement of the engine is not given but in several shots you can identify it as a big block Chevy with aluminum heads. The giant ass turbo is mounted front and center and the plumbing comes of in several directions. The whole thing looks really awesome and as you’d expect the turbo kills lots of the noise. You can still here the engine but the turbo really knocks the edge off of the sound. We’re going to predict seeing more and more turbo combos as the technology basically trickles up from the small tire doorslammer world where turbos are the ruling entity. The more of them that show up in those cars and the more people that see them run fast, the more turbos we’ll see in different classes and ranks of the sport.

We think that this evil handling bastard is super cool. What do you think?
