As racing and car seasons begins to ramp up in the USA, the season starts to wind down in Australia but the fun continues as this video confirms. Shot at one of the million shows in Australia that features a wild burnout contest, this little VW seems like a fan favorite. With the requisite driver and arm flapping passenger, these guys are having a ball. It takes the car less than two minutes to blow both back tires apart and there’s at least one instance where you can see what appears to be a jet of coolant shooting out of the engine, which causes the driver to briefly lay back off the throttle. As soon as the geyser subsides, he hammers back on the gas and finishes his deed of killing the tires dead.
This thing has Ford power in the front of it and the engine sounds awesome running nearly wide open for all this time. As small as VW Bugs are, doesn’t this thing seem even smaller than normal? Our guess is that the firewall has been pushed back and everything else has been pushed back with it moving the driver and passenger into the area where the rear seat passengers would normally be sitting. The flames are a little cheesy but we’d still love to get behind the wheel of this Ford powered stomper at the drags or on the burnout pad.
What do you think? Big fun?
