If you attend any Drag and Drive events you will see a ton of different home built and store bought trailers that people haul behind their race cars, hauling all the things they need to race and maintain them throughout the event. Some folks rent little uHaul trailers, some folks buy small enclosed box trailers, and others build them at home. Hell, there are a ton of folks who just keep their eyes open and buy things like cargo or camper trailers designed to be hauled behind a motorcycle. The point is, there are lots of options. If you are a DIY kind of person and want to build your own, there are also several ways to go about that.

One of the most common DIY methods for building a Drag and Drive trailer is to start with a utility trailer kit from Harbor Freight, Tractor Supply, etc. Others start with fully functional utility trailers from their favorite home improvement or farm store. And then there are the folks who find a used trailer of some kind and work towards converting it into their dream Drag and Drive trailer. Or at least the dream they can afford, in order to keep the week from being a nightmare.

And that’s exactly what Scott Liggett is doing in this build series. He’s starting out with a trailer that came with a junk boat he bought for parts, that was in good enough shape to make it worth starting with. I’ll leave the details to Scott to explain, but rest assured there will be plenty more to check out on this project, as this is just Part 1.
