Tulsa Raceway Park Brings Prep To The Next Level. Pro Teams Rejoice!

You know how much we love going to Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park, and now there is even more reason to love it. Track owners Keith Haney and Todd Martin have just stepped up and spent some real money on even more equipment that will provide the best racing surface and safety possible. As much as I hate listening to them, the reverse rotation track dragging tractors are becoming a staple at high end racetracks, and for good reason. They put rubber and heat into the track better than anything ever used, and several of the biggest sanctioning bodies, including NHRA, use them exclusively. And thanks to the great management and ownership at Tulsa Raceway Park, they’ve just acquired one. Check out the details below, along with information on testing at the racetrack.

Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park

ups the ante for NHRA teams

TULSA, Okla. (March 8) — Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park is renowned as one of the best dragstrips in the United States, and now owners Keith Haney and Todd Martin have upped the ante. They have invested in additional preparation and safety equipment, hoping to build upon the facility’s reputation as one of the top tracks in the country. Already a top testing venue, Haney and Martin want to attract NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car teams for 2014 and beyond.”Our track is the best in the country, and it has proven that for the last three years against the best of the best,” Haney said.

Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park was named CompetitionPlus.com’s 2013 Track of the Year and the NHRA Track of the Year, continuing a tradition of excellence. The facility also hosted several of NHRA’s top Pro Stock teams for testing last year, with the results proven with national event victories and other successes.

“V. Gaines, the points leader right now, tested at Tulsa last year, all year long,” Haney said. “Jeg (Coughlin Jr.) tested and then went and won the championship. Allen Johnson tested and went and won. (Mike) Edwards, the fastest in the country, tested at Tulsa all the time.”

That was without the new equipment, which will aid in track preparation. The facility now has a rotator to scrub the surface with tire rubber, so the track can now be prepped just like an NHRA national event dragstrip.

“The track is over a half-mile long, the facilities are second to none, and the racetrack surface is second to none,” Haney said. “Now we’ve gotten even better. Most of the nitro guys want a track to be prepped like an NHRA event, and now we’ve got the capability to do so, even more.

“The management and staff are second to none when it comes to prepping a track.”

Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park hosts numerous races throughout the year, so they know how to prepare for an event. The track’s commitment to safety is unparalleled, as four safety units are always on standby during private tests.

In addition to being an ideal test venue for Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock teams, the track is suitable for all forms of drag racing tests. It is five minutes from Tulsa International Airport, which makes it easy for team owners and drivers to fly in to test.

“We want the fuel teams to know that, ‘Hey, there’s not a better or safer place to test than Tulsa,’ ” Haney said. “We want to let all Drag Radial, X275, 10.5, and Pro Mod teams know that there is no track better than Tulsa.”

Tulsa will host 109 events this year and just added a Mud Track and Mud Fast Track with bleachers, which now makes it the best place to race in the mud. The track will also host a Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League race later this year, the first time the premier pulling series in the United States will compete in Oklahoma.

I would like to inquire about the tires used on the reversing tractors when they lay down a fresh layer of rubber on the track between rounds. I have a contact who runs a company in Calif that makes retreads for aircraft, etc. I think this would be a great idea. PLEASE contact r. Thank you.
