It is race day at the ECTA Ohio Mile meet in Wilmington today and there’s live audio where you can tune into the action to hear about the big speeds, unique vehicles, and awesome accomplishments being laid down by the competitors. There are multiple classes where guys will be bumping each other this weekend in and out of the record books, Rickey Gadson is in the house with a pair of Kawasaki H2 supercharged motorcycles, NASCAR legend Dave Marcis is here with his stock car, Guy Caputo will be racing one of the most powerful motorcycles in the world, the world’s fastest one mile 500cc motorcycle is here and there’s (hopefully) going to be a tailwind. This is the stuff that land speed racers dream of!
As usual, Lohnes will be the man on the microphone bringing you the action from the first pass to the last one and this meet with more than 100 entries looks like it is going to be a barn burner. Many of the competitors will use this as a last tuneup before preparing for Bonneville in August, and others are leaning hard on their stuff for the first time. The broadcast will begin at about 9:00am EST and will continue until the last car, truck, or bike goes down the track. There’s some REALLY interesting stuff, so tune in for the big speeds, screaming engines, and fun!
Land speed racing is the last bastion of pure mechanical competition. The creativity and skill set displayed by these racers never ceases to amaze us. You’ll hear about lots of that on the broadcast so give it a listen.
No FIA sanction, hence no World records. Just National Mile records.
