TX2K15 Coverage: A Look At The Cool Exotics And Muscled Up Sports Cars At The Wild Event In Texas

(Words and photos by Jacob Marshall) – (Editor’s note – For those of you not 100% familiar with the TX2K event, it is a street car geared weekend of insanity that takes place in Baytown, Texas every year and it draws some of the craziest street cars from across the country out. Yes, there are muscle cars and hot rods like you would expect but there’s also stuff like the diesel powered truck we showed you yesterday and a LOT of exotic cars setup to mangle a drag strip. There are all kinds of things going on all weekend like dyno contests, drag racing, and there’s also the “2k” portion of the event, which means 2,000ft roll racing. Cars approach the starting line at a roll and see green and then charge 2,000ft to the finish line. Royal Purple Raceway is plenty long so there’s stopping room galore.

Jacob Marshall attended the TX2K15 event this year and had his camera. This is the first of a few collections of photos we’re going to show you from the event and this one concentrates on the exotic cars and muscled up sporty cars that guys brought out. There’s some neat iron in here! – Brian)

Jacob sez: Before I even got to the official TX2K15 event I witnessed a Ferrari 458 Italia drifting in the rain while in route, so I knew immediately that the event would have its fair share of exotic sports cars. What I didn’t expect was the variety. As I walked from one side of the pits to the other I found myself in a fan boy heaven. Four different types of Lambos, two NSX’s, Porsches, Ferraris, twin turbo Vipers, and a fair share of other Need for Speed worthy Vehicles were present. While some of the cars you’ll see in this gallery are bone stock, some are purpose built drag cars sporting four digit horsepower and lots of boost! Check out that NSX on drag radials, unreal!

Used to be interested in this event, but the actual event has just turned into R35 GT-Rs and UGR Lamborghinis racing, which has all the excitement of watching paint dry. Now the after-hours events, those are still pretty interesting.
