Bracket Racing USA – Here’s A Look At The Sportsman Action From US60 Dragway In Kentucky

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – We normally get out to US60 Dragway in Hardinsburg, KY two or three times a year to have a good time with the Straight-Axle Mafia and the Nostalgia events at this historic track.  We’ve got some of the same to bring you…but a lot of new.  There’s always the regular program ran after the nostalgia stuff runs and we stick around for that too.  US60 is known for its grudge racing events and plenty of vehicles come with ‘N/T’ on their windows.  Some are trying out new combinations and others are just trying to get down the track.  We dig all of it because the atmosphere at this track is so laid back and the people friendly.  Wish it was closer to our home, but this place and the trip make the events special to us.

Photo #1 is the Tahoe of the late Ro Kay.  We’d brought you a few photos of it before and I thought it fitting to include it once again.  Nice guy that is missed.  The blue Ford Probe is new to us and the thing screams to insane RPMS.  It is a very clean piece of machinery.  The T-bird is a runner and will actually hike that left front tire about 8” or more with regularity.  One of the reasons we like this track is that we get to see some not-so-ordinary rides.  The black 4-eye Fox-body was loaded for bear and actually seemed to hook on the hit, but as power built you can see that tires were not wanting to play along.  The red ECSB dime was sporting exhaust-driven boost and seriously got with the program.  Pretty sure they were dialing it in as it seemed to get quicker.  I didn’t get too many photos of the later action because I was worn out from all the action earlier in the day.  If you follow along you’ll see.

Enjoy.
