Video and Time Slip: Tom Bailey Takes Sick Seconds 2.0 To A 3.985/189 Eight Mile – A Five Coming Soon?

For the first time since it has been on the track Sick Seconds 2.0 has traversed the eighth mile in less than four seconds. Yes, Tom Bailey won Hot Rod Magazine Drag Week in 2015 and he did it with an incredible average in the 6.30s but the reality is that the world would really like to see the whole “world’s quickest street legal car” battle revived again as Larry Larson has owned the title for a couple of years now.

Andy Frost has been quietly reassembling the Red Victor, Bailey has been racing Sick Seconds 2.0 at about the same rapid clip that Larson has and with this time slip we could be seeing the second five second pass out of a street legal car in history pretty soon. In a turbocharged application this 3.98 eight elapsed time would play out to a VERY low six second pass or a very high 5.90s run.

We believe that Bailey has plans to run Drag Week again this year and unlike last year he’ll have Steve Morris back in the co-pilot’s seat. Morris missed last year’s event after being injured in an accident on his personal time. Mended and ready to roll, these guys could be a historically fearsome combo especially with a car they are learning more about by the minute. With the turbocharged combo’s ability to back half the race track like lightning, we’d be interested to see what this run would have been out the back door. Maybe 240-ish mph?

We’re fans of the whole battle royale at the top of the barely legal, totally ragged, mind warping, street legal drag racing world and while the established king still has a hammerlock on the throne he has some intercontinental challengers that are gathering steam to make a run at him!
