If you have been enthralled with the explosion in popularity of the NHRA SamTech.edu Factory Stock Showdown like we have these days you’ve undoubtedly thought about how much fun it would be to jump into that shark tank. Well, if you have the itch and the desire like RIGHT NOW you can grab this blown Challenger Drag Pak and hop in with both feet! This is one of the first blower cars to be produced by Chrysler for the program and it sports the Whipple huffed, 354ci Gen III hemi that is mandated per the rules. We actually saw this car race at least once and maybe more than that when it was new. The blown Drag Pak will forever live in drag racing history as the first stocker to run in the 7-second zone.
This car is in magnificent shape and according to the ad the thing only has 13 passes on it. That’s insane, it is basically brand new! Note that the car is being sold as a F/SSD (Factory Super Stock) and not a stocker. If we had to guess that is because the pistons have not been swapped for stock eliminator legal slugs. There was an issue with the piston that Mopar put in these things when they shipped in 2015 and that hampered their ability to get into the stock eliminator fray. If the car comes with the proper pistons, awesome. If not, Diamond, J&E, or anyone else you can think of will make you up a set.
With an asking price of $79,900 it is veritable bargain for one of the “big three” blower cars. COPO Camaros and Cobra Jet Mustangs of this vintage are typically fetching more money so this could be a deal for someone to start with the brandy new package and make it fly. The car has been 8.80s so far and we’re guessing that is basically “straight off the trailer” in terms of mods or tweaks.
If one were going to run the SamTech.edu Factory Stock Showdown, you’d be blowing this thing apart and putting the surgical touches on the chassis as well as getting the engine into the hands of perhaps a guy named Bischoff or others. Those are the guys who can power you right down into the low 8s to be competitive. Tally ho!

The ad says they are selling it for Chuck Blossom. Chuck passed away and is known for his fast if not typical stockers. He has raced and usually qualified #1 with a GMC Cyclone, Typhoon and PT Cruiser.
