Watch Manny Buginga Reset The 275-Tire Quarter Mile World Record In His Mustang 6.48/218!

When we think about small tire drag racing these days, it is on an eighth mile basis. Virtually every race in the world that guys run 275-tires and the like is contested at 660ft distance. Part of it is because of wreckage, part of it is just because so many guys have their stuff set to go that far that asking them to run a full pull is out of the question. Well, Jason Miller and the crew that runs the Caltech World Cup event in Maryland does not subscribe to that theory and they run the little tire stuff all the way through the quarter mile gates. We love it!

Adding to the distance is the fact that the race is held in the fall in Maryland and the conditions are always stupid awesome. Look at the number of people wearing sweatshirts and all that junk out there. They are cold, the air is dense and boosted engines like the small block Ford in Manny’s car love every blessed inch of it. This thing was chewing!

Tuned by the Bruder Brothers you will see Manny make a succession of passes in this video leading up to the world record breaking 6.48/218mph rip that put him over the top. The Aussies claimed this record previously so it is good to have it back on our shores, if only for a while. The record setting run is fun to watch because you will see the car like wanting to pull the nose so bad but staying planted and just motoring down the track. Pretty neat stuff, right?

6.48/218 on a 275 tire. Crazy!
