Watch An Outlaw 10.5 Car Run 4.18 and Stop The Clocks On The Rear Tires!

(By Jason Mazzotta) – One of the most exciting aspects of outlaw racing is the wheelie. Whether it is a Drag Radial car that launches and puts it on the bumper, or a twin turbo outlaw 10.5 car wheel standing down track when the power of the turbos are peaking, the necessity of weight transfer for the small tire outlaw cars always makes for exciting wheelstands, and Steve Gorman doesn’t disappoint in this clip of his amazing wheelstand from Cecil County Dragway.

Steve Gorman, an Outlaw 10.5 racer, runs a big block twin turbo Mustang on the skinny 10.5 slicks, and when small tires are matched with big power wheelies are always a possibility and almost a guarantee. Gorman launches on a straight and smooth run dangling the front tires and just touching the wheelie bar. As the car is settling down just before the 330 block, the power of the turbos are really kicking in and the boost is coming on in buckets. As Gorman goes through the 330ft mark, the front tires start to come up and he carries them through the air taking the stripe with the rear tires at 4.18 at 198mph! If you watch closely you can see a puff of smoke come off the front tires when they touch down after the eighth-mile mark, just as a plane does on the runway when landing.

Check out the 198 mph wheelstanding action of Steve Gorman from multiple angles below:
