Yes, we know that this car’s 6.70s passes are not stout enough to hang with the hardest core Outlaw Radial cars here in North America and is that “ruins” this video for you, find another hobby. The reality s that this Ford Cortina being campaigned in Australia is the quickest car in the Outlaw Radial class that we know about down there. In the video below you will see it making a few hits before really cranking down the track on a 6.77/228mph shot. The amazing thing about the car that you’ll see throughout the video is its propensity to want to take flight from half track on. We’re not sure of the driver’s name but that guy has some stones because a couple of these passes would have ended really bad if he had tried to either over drive the car or if he had not pedaled of lifted at the moments that he does. We’re not sure if it is wacko aerodynamics coming into play or if the car is making so much power it is trying to literally wheelie itself up at that point on the course. Either way, that steering wheel became a rudder control a couple of times during the runs you will see below.
This style of racing continues to grow and expand because people love it. People love the fact that the cars are true to their actual shape and wheelbase. They love the fact that the tires (looks like a 315 radial on this car) are big but but top fuel big, and they love the fact that these cars are constantly on the edge of control even under ideal conditions. As we mentioned above, there are cars running quicker and faster here in the USA but let’s be real. Is there anything NOT impressive about the runs you’ll watch below? Is there any real drag racing fan who wouldn’t buy a ticket and watch that show? Those boys down there will be stepping on their stuff ever harder as we do up here. Remember, they were years ahead of us into the doorslammer five second zone (in competition) so we’ve got all the respect in the world for the drag racers of Australia. This video certainly proves their courage!
Just one race in to the wind, and it’s on the roof!Needs more lbs on the front
Calculated crash.
Super impressive. Looks like a Maverick. It either needs some weight up front or some aero or both. One bad wind as that thing is lifting the nose like that and it’ll become a paper weight.
I love the license plate… PSIDUP
Your Honda can’t do this!
Is it just me but does the shut down area look like its 100 feet long????
Look to the aussies to make 4 doors completely bad-ass…. good show mates
car is BAD, it does look like it is doing a poor job of crashing ever pass (good driving?)
Fun to run as a sleeper for shocking results.
