Watch “The Cutty” From Street Outlaws Make Some Dyno Rips At Mike Murillo Motorsports With Its New LSx Combo

While the personalities on the Street Outlaws may be a turn off to some hot rodders, we can tell you from personal experience that every one of the cars we have ever seen in person have been very, very cool. You can’t argue with iron that looks like it would hook up at center ice during a Boston Bruins game or stuff that can pull the front end a couple feet in the air on a cold road. The cars all have that mean stance to them and there’s some cool variety as well. G-Body fans the world over have a soft spot in their hearts for John Andrade Jr. and his Olds Cutlass that is referred to as “The Cutty” on the show. Now powered by a Texas Speed built 400+ ci LSx engine with a 94mm turbo, this video shows the car being run at Mike Murillo Motorsports in Texas to get the combo tuned up.

Here’s a fair warning….the power numbers are not given. We’re fairly certain anyone with a brain can understand why quantifiable numbers (even if they are just simply a dyno screen) kind of defeat the purpose of the whole street racing “keep your stuff secret” mentality that exists in that world. Using multiple angles and cameras, the pulls are pretty fun to watch though, especially when the thing comes up on boost and the tires grow like crazy. This is a mean piece and sadly we can only tell you that we were able to check it out at PRI as it was being displayed and the car is as cool as it looks on the video. John cruised the thing down the street to the trailer that yanked it home after the show and there were some cool photos of it on FB idling in traffic. Like all the other guys, we’d love to see John and his car on Drag Week.

Until then we’ll have to keep ourselves entertained with its appearances on TV and at race tracks working this really, really mean LSx motor out.

Nice looking car. I have always had a soft spot for Hurst Olds. Seems that with more TV time, these guys are now spending more of the TV money on their cars and making them faster. Kind of surprised at only one turbo (and 94mm seems small) and an air to air intercooler.

Love the car to and a 94mm turbo is a pretty good size turbo, car probably makes about 1300-1400HP to the wheels!!

Yeah, nice enough cars and all, but I can’t stand the owners for the most part. They did that interview with Hot Rod post-Drag Week 2013 and I read it and was just like “These guys don’t have a clue what they are talking about.” And I don’t care what they say, the show is fake. Any of these “reality shows” have very little reality and a lot of scripting going on.

I spent a week on set this summer, working on the GTO.

The races aren’t fake, the streets aren’t prepped, and the drama is largely pumped up (call that part facke if you like). The cars run anywhere from 5.00 to 4.60s on unprepared streets.

Everyone there was totally polite and cool to me.

Nobody here has a car that runs a 4.6 on the street either so, they have that going for them.
