We have celebrated the successes of the Lagana family here on BangShift for a long, long time. Simply put, these guys rule. They grew up with nitro cursing through their veins with a dad who was one of the most scrappy and resourceful fuel racers of all time and they proudly continue the family tradition today. Bobby has become a highly respected tuner and serves as the co-crew chief on the dragster of Steve Torrance. Dominic, his younger brother runs the Nitro Ninja dragster. Dom drives some time, people like Tripp Tatum spend time in the seat, and the car is a truly bad ass piece. It can run with whoever is in the other lane, no matter budgetary differences.
The guys were booked in at the IHRA national event in Martin, Michigan this year and the cool thing about that is the fact that they would be running their car to the quarter mile finish line instead of the NHRA mandated 1,000ft stripe that is run in the Mello Yello series. Like we said, these guys are hardcore and awesome. They’d run this car down a gravel road if they could.
In this video you will see the car come out, pull hard and the put a cylinder out about halfway through the pass. Ultimately the car runs 4.56. The IHRA top fuel record is 4.48 as set by Clay Millican years and years ago. We bet they were shooting for that number with this pull.
Watch what happens when the car puts the hole out and how hard Lagana has to drive it. The thing gets to hunting very, very hard on the back end of the lap and Dom handles it like the pro that he is.
Passion, attitude, and fun…these guys get all of that!
Some homies from our home track, Dover Drag Strip in Wingdale, NY.
I’d rather watch 4.50’s on the quarter than 3.70’s in 1000 feet.
Laganas RULE, Les Mayhew Rules, great combination
YES! I completely agree with David Beard. That’s how it’s done! No sprint race, you have to make it the whole way…
