Watch Dwayne Mills In His Famed Golden Gorilla Camaro Mangle The Field At The NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl

If there was a car that literally stopped traffic at the 2015 NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl it was the latest version of Dwayne Mills’ famed Golden Gorilla Camaro. This is the newest iteration of the car that has been on the forefront of small tire drag racing for as long as anyone could remember. Back in February Mille had an incredible wreck where the Camaro literally took flight at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Previous to this race the car had only been out once we believe.

Mills was competing in the NMCA Radial Wars category which is about as wide open a rule book as you will find for any heads up racing class in the world. Limited on tire size, everything else is pretty much up to you. Big engine with big turbos are becoming dominant in the class and Mills is on that program as well. Competing on the eighth mile, these cars are as ragged edge as you’d expect. While there were lots of tire smoking runs there were some cannon shots as well. The credit goes to the racers and it goes to the NMCA staff that prepared the track well each and every time the cars were coming around the corner to run.

This is a collection of Mills runs and you will appreciate the low four second goodness and massive 194 mph speeds that he was running. Mills was supposed to face down Keith Berry in the final round but Berry had apparently torched a head and was unable to make the call. It was a bit of an anti-climax but he wasn’t quite done. Mills uncorked his ost stout run of the weekend during the actual 12-round super bowl portion of the program doing what he could to help the NMCA cause.
