The Pro Mod class has evolved more than perhaps any other in the last 10-15 years. These cars have gone from lots of motor and little chassis to refined beasts that make more power than ever and do a pretty good job of holding onto it…most of the time. There’s still a very wild element to this class and that is why the spectators and drivers both love it so much. For every 10 passes right down the pipe there’s one like this where things go sideways (literally) and the car ends up a wadded mess before virtually anyone has time to react. This video was shot by Urban Hillbilly Action Videos last year at Tulsa and as you’ll see, the safety guys were on this driver nearly before he stopped rolling but the car was majorly hammered.
Because of the angle we’re not 100% sure what happened to initiate the sequence of events that left the car a mess but what we can tell you is that it seems the initial hit broke the steering so the driver was nothing more than an unwilling passenger on an unguided missile as it careened across the track and made a HUGE hit on the left side after the one on the right. You’ll see the car on the track after all the action stops and it is hammered pretty hard. The 1963 Corvette nose in shards and pieces all over the place makes us weepy.
Judging by the video description these guys have the car fixed and will be back at it in 2015. That’s what we like to hear!
