There are cool cars and then there are COOL cars and we’re going to go on record as saying that Ken Clark’s famed Swamp Thing Nova wagon is a COOL car. Sporting a massive Rehr and Morrison nitrous engine and the looks of something that was just pulled out of the bayou, it was putting on one heck of a show during Redemption 6.0 where this video was made. While the wagon did not win the event, it held its own with the best racers in the no prep drag racing world while thundering down the track, nitrous header flames belching from the pipes.
The car’s mean look was achieved with a 4″ roof chop, a more steeply raked windshield, a Chris Alston’s Chassisworks chassis kit, and LOTS of killer fabrication work from the guys at Tag’s Hot Rod Shop. The car is a great working tank and we think the most fun part about watching it in no prep form is how they manage the launch. You will see the car hit the tire, settle, and then the nitrous guns come on and the thing pulls the wheels back up at like 60-feet! Like lots of no prep cars the wagon squats pretty hard when it hits the tire on the launch which adds to the fun of watching it work.
The car’s owner Ken Clark is a bit of a Chevy II Nova freak as he has a collection of them and this car was kind of the capstone of that whole deal. The other element which we normally do not dig but enjoy here is the fact that you can see where the massive wheel tubs come up through the rear quarter panel. Maybe it is because of the roof chop but those huge tubs make the whole thing look even more angry. Watch Swamp Thing work below!
