We were tired just watching this hilarious race from the Perth Motorplex 400 Thunder event in Australia. What you are going to see is the final round of pro stock motorcycle go totally and weirdly awry in the most hilarious fashion you can imagine. Neither driver crashes, neither driver is hurt, although by the end we’re thinking that both of them probably wished that they were dead. Riders Maurice Allen and Ryan Learmonth were lined up for the money run in the class and when the tree came down, Allen’s bike left the line and then shut off. Meanwhile Learmonth barely moved an inch and his bike was dead in the water. This is where the magic happens.
Allen takes a minute kind of kicking himself along and then Learmonth takes off at a dead sprint while pushing his motorcycle as fast as he can. Allen then figured out what the hell is happening and he jumps off and starts to push like crazy. A literal quarter mile footrace breaks out and the guy who pushes his stuff across the line first will be the winner. You have to watch to see how it plays out.
In case you think this is an easy task, running in motorcycle leathers while pushing a bike with a slick tire on a prepared surface is no fun job. The reaction of the two after they cross the finish line is pretty much priceless and it sums up their condition perfectly.
THIS is a wild one –

Pretty sure this was actually the first round, not the final.
And not only that, we saw this happen 25 years ago. That was Jim Hanlon and Bluey Howard in that final of PSM, and at the trophy presentation Hanlon thanked “West End beer and Rothmans cigarettes for making Blue such a slug.”
Brash, it was the semi-final and Maurice advanced to the final where he went down to Glenn Wooster.
