In the realm of things going badly, it doesn’t go much badder than this. We’re not sure of the circumstances when this video was filmed whether it was a test and tune, a bracket race, or a heads up contest of some kind but we do know that shortly after both of these cars launch, the stuff hits the fan in epic fashion that ends with both cars sitting in a literal lake of fire. When you look at these two cars you immediately assume that the altered is going to be the one having the problem, right? Nope. This time it is the full bodied car in the form of this first generation Camaro.
The Camaro gets out of shape and wails the wall on its side of the track before crossing the strip seemingly under power and really pile driving the wall on the other side of the track, pulling a kind of pirouette in the air and then landing with a big thud. Meanwhile, all the fuel that has been spilled out of the car erupts in flame and the track essentially turns into a lake of fire.
From what we have read and seen, both drivers are OK but this was certainly a wild moment at one of the hardest core eighth mile tracks in the country. As we always say, in drag racing you never know what’s going to happen next!
