Is This The Weirdest Drag Racing Crash You’ve Ever Seen? It Is Definitely Top 5 For Us!

Now, this is weird! Thanks to BangShifter Steve Valdez we got tipped off to this video that shows a pair of Aussie Top Doorslammer competitors rip roaring down a drag strip. Like many door slammer races, things get hairy as one of the cars, a Holden bodied machine gets into the wall on the left side of the track.  The drivers struggles for control of the car all the way to the finish line and after the finish the car crosses the track and gets behind the right lane competitor in his classic Camaro bodied car. Here’s where the plot twist comes in.

No, he does not strike the guy from behind. No he does not wipe the guy out with a side hit. What happens is that the parachutes get tangled and the lines from one car get wrapped up in the wing of the Holden. Much like getting your shoe laces caught in the pedals of your bike as a kid, things get bad when the slack comes out of the lines.

The Holden gets spun around backwards and ultimately gets flipped over, rolling a couple of times and ending up on its wheels. The car was still running and you can hear the motor head to the moon when the driver stabs the gas as the thing is rolling. Both drivers were OK and the only thing that appeared to be really hurt was the Holden. As best we can tell, the Camaro came out relatively unscathed.

We cannot remember another crash like this one where one car hooks the other like a fish and takes it for a ride. It just goes to show you that you’ve never seen it all in this sport and that you can always expect the unexpected! The lesson for budding announcers out there? Never take your eyes off the cars, even in the shutdown area!

I’ve learned as a spectator, driver, and crewman never to take your eyes off the car until it turns off the top end of the track. Ive even seen a wild ride occur after the turn off. I want to know what the dude in the Holden was thinking as the car got yanked like that. That’s wild

LOL. Back when I was a kid, my bike suffered a broken chain. So, my buddy and I decided it was a great time to play “tow truck”. I lived on a street that ran downhill and around a curve. We tied a rope from his seat post to my handle bars and he proceeded to tow me home. We coasted down the street past my place and around the bend. It turned out my bike was a more efficient coasting unit than his, and I started to overtake him on the outside. I tried back pedalling, which obviously didn’t have any effect.
So, I yelled out to my buddy, who I was now coming alongside of.
With about 6 feet of rope slack between us.
With one end attached to my handlebar post and the other to his seat post.
    I yelled “Stop!”
    That. Was. A. Mistake.
