What makes something good? In the case of art like this video it needs to appeal to some sense that you have. Maybe you like the music, the visual, the editing style, it has to strike you somewhere to say, “Oh, I like that.” That was my reaction when I saw this video for the first time. Recently released by Mikel Visual it is four and a half minutes of drag racing bliss made at the 2019 Yellow Bullet Nationals on the grounds of Cecil County Dragway in Maryland. It’s neat.
The Yellow Bullet Nationals stands as the second larger drag race in the country on Labor Day weekend each year. It has become a tradition at Cecil County, a rite of passage for any hardcore door slammer competitor to take on, and a gathering spot for people who spent far too much time on one of the automotive internet’s most famed and infamous websites. Long story short, it has the legacy and makings to be a long term event and the deal shows no signs of slowing down at all.
We dig the spread of love in this video between people, cars, and action. There can be too much of one and not enough of another but that is not the case here. Really well balanced and made by a guy who knows the subject and knows the audience. This is a hip, cool feeling video, not just another drag racing “film” barfed out by a guy standing next to a car on his cell-phone.
Long story short, watch this!
The mind numbing and droning music ruined an otherwise cool video!
