Just when you think everything that can possibly done to a 1969 Camaro has been done, we find this steaming pile. The 69 Camarophiles among you, just move on to the next story. You’ve been warned.
The seller kinda-sorta admits it may not be the most attractive Camaro ever, noting that one can purchase a complete doghouse elsewhere on Craigslist. He claims it’s an ex-show car, and “styled in the 80’s with award winning metalwork.” It appears we have 1979-ish Olds 98 headlights, and maybe the same era Grand Prix grille. Then we have blocked off quarter windows with odd shaped opera windows in a random location. The rear bumper has been split for no apparent reason, and the body creases the bumper normally hides just left alone. Then we have two thirds on a stock Camaro taillight per side, with amber lenses presumably for turn signals. Gives it that European look, dontcha think? Some funks scoops ahead of the rear wheel wells and a tasteful spoiler molded on, there must have been a sale on Bondo over at Warshawsky’s. (NOTE: IN Chicago, we had Warshawsky’s. In the rest of the country it was JC Whitney. Same company.)
Completing this ex-show car is an inline six, with “custom” headers. No worries about overpowering the skinny radials on turbine wheels.
There may or may not be a connection between the fact that this car was loved by a Chicagoan, and that we are the only place in the world where Jeppsons Malort (Never heard of it? Google it. I dare you.) is sold.
Here is the original text in case it’s sold or deleted:
IF YOU DONT LIKE THIS LOOK, PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE AN END OF THE WORLD DETAIL TO CHANGE A NOSE ON A 69 CAMARO! they are on ebay (out of plainfield) for just under a grand for THE ENTIRE FRONT CLIP PACKAGE. about 4 years ago I would drive it daily. It wasnt too pretty but I loved it just the same. Now I barley use it. I can remember when I appreciated it for the ex-show car It once was..It has had the lower quarters replaced both left and right. also the lower front fenders both sides and minor patches on the lower front doors. This is the original detroit metal. It was styled in the 80s with award winning metal work. The 80s headlights at the time this car was built and shown were the latest styling trend coming out of Detroit.. but why live in the past. Today the custom headered “GOODWRENCH” straight six would be a deal breaker. but it is still driveable daily(car itself just turned 70k) and can drive across the country. I am hoping to find someone who will love This car. truly unique! so if you are looking for an old car like This with a show car/tour history and good bones with plenty of life left. please get a hold of me and set up a close up inspection and test drive.. I promise you can drive it home and if you are willing to invest in returning it to show standard. your investment will be safe and provide a decent return. yes the grille is with the car as shown in the last pictures. it was a bit dusty from sitting in a drawer. also have all three eleanor window louvers (rear / sides) and the SPLIT front bumper.

Brian, I don’t think you need to worry about it being sold! The only name that comes to mind is “Roach Coach”because you had to be stoned to create that ” custom car”.
Buy it, sneak it into Chad’s shop in the dark of night and sign title over to him.
AHHHHH! More brown acid dropped! (i,e,; see miata story
not going to comment on the look of this thing,it speaks(barks?) for itself—but i’m pretty sure the opera windows are from a malaise era cutlass, sides swapped (drivers to passenger) and laid on their sides—–maybe it’s a barris custom…………….
Um, I think that wing looks wrong. Not that the rest of the car is any better, loose the wing and it would look “right” for an early 1980s “custom”.
And are they Rambler door handles?
Chevy Hatin’ Mad Geordie : The only one on Bangshift who can fully appreciate the true inspirational awesomeness of this GM “work of Art”
Unsold after 2 months, that’s a shocker…
It’s from Chicago, not much good has come out of there lately!
“It’s from Chicago, not much good has come out of there lately!”
You can say that again!
What, no price? No pictures of the custom headers?
$11,500. No pics of the headers.
It’s only redeeming quality are the AMC door handles. Not sure what you get for the other $11,490…
