Ultimate Kit Bash Potential: This 1991 Lamborghini Diablo Is Basically A Bare Chassis Waiting To Be Made Into Something Awesome

This era of hot rodding we live in is legitimately boundless. People create things from scratch that are mind boggling and the access that talented builders have to the technology and materials to create cool cars has never been more open. I don’t possess the skills and likely never will, but so many others do that it’s hard to NOT get excited when you see something like the 1991 Lamborghini Diablo bare chassis. Why? Because there’s someone somewhere that could build this into a hot rod the likes of which the world has never seen.

Whether is it is a mid-mounted LS engine or a mid-mounted twin turbo small block, big block, whatever, a powetrain that could be as simple as a modified IRS and custom IFS, the sky is the limit. It would not be simple, cheap, or quick to do but at the end of a build in this manner, you’d have a truly one-off machine that would enamor many and likely anger many more.

Hell, building the thing as a 1991-spec pro street car would rule as well. Imagine the looks at Cars and Coffee if you rolled in with massive Mickeys on the back and a Bug catcher popping up just over the roofline. It would be glorious.

Given the time, skills, and money how would you build this former Italian supercar.

If you had a fully functioning brain you would slot in a wild bored out 7 liter Lambo V12 with a huge Roots blower or a pair of giant turbos or Pro Chargers and run it as an insane Pro Mod.

Stuff the LS into the toilet where it belongs!

The possibilities are endless…I’m starting to get lightheaded from the options spinning in my head.

I would want to know a couple of things first. 1. Why do you have a bare Lambo frame? 2. Why did a 1991 frame need to be re-titled in 2020? 3. Original price – $500? My guess is the car was wrecked and someone stripped it to the frame and fixed it. I would measure every inch of the frame before starting a project with it. You’ll be spending 10s of thousands of dollars for the minimum amount of body parts to fix it. Yes, it could be an awesome project but you better have VERY deep pockets. I would still be surprised if he sold it for $25,000.

Bought at an Indian Nation auction in OK for $500…asking $25,000…. I would say some crack is involved…..

700 horse big block of your choice . I’d do a chevy and would just make a road going track day car in the spirit of a can am race car .
