(Photos by David Whealon) – You’ve seen David Whealon’s name on the pages of BangShift before as he’s a super talented photographer who catches the action at ECTA meets, truck and tractor pulls, drag races, and even the sports cars races like you’ll see below. David let us know he was heading to Virginia International Raceway for the 2014 Oak Tree Grand Prix which is an event on the TUDOR United Sports Car racing series for 2014. These style cars are our favorites to watch on a road course because they are the most fun and most identifiable. Corvettes, Mustangs, BMWs, Maseratis, Vipers, Lamborghinis, etc. All of them have an identity and a fan following.

Dave reports that the action was great on the track and it did not stop! These photos were taken on Friday during a testing session which began at like 8:00 in the morning and went until about 7:30pm. Outside of the TUDOR cars the Continental Tires GT series was also part of the program so the mechanical diversity was in full effect at the track. Whealon reports that the Corvettes are the means sounding cars out there for this type of competition and their bellow was in distinct contrast to the smaller, higher winding engines that power lots of the other cars they’re competing against.
