2018 Cincinnati Cavalcade Of Customs Photo Coverage: From DeLoreans to VWs, We’Ve Got It All!

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – More cars on carpet.  We start off this collection with some views from a walkway over the main floor.  It’s nice to see the cars and crowds from a different perspective.  The show floor was very crowded at different times during the day, but when we took these photos it wasn’t.  We left after 8pm and there was a line of people buying tickets (closes at 10pm).  Well attended, but it seems fewer cars this year.  With the loss of the Carl Casper show this is about the biggest one around closer than Indianapolis (3hr trip for us) we’d expected more.  Enough of that.

Most of this gallery was shot upstairs and frequent followers will note I hate the carpet and lighting up there.  This 1953 Whizzer was our favorite bike of the show.  This blue CRX is the cleanest example I’ve seen since they were new.  Someone has to keep the dream alive.  The grandma-gold Gran Torino is super clean and retro cool.  I can remember riding in one of these when I was a kid.  Plush vinyl baby.  I have a soft spot for a 356 Porsche and there may have been a puddle of drool near where I stood to take this shot.

A sassy-grass and white Hemi ‘Cuda makes for a bold statement is really catches the eye regardless how poor the lighting.  We were fairly impressed with this white ’72 Skyline GTX.  I only know superficial stuff on this type of thing, but my 17yr-old son is a helpful companion and information source.  I don’t know if I could handle the RHD stuff, but I wouldn’t turn down a chance to drive one.  We’ll end with this pair of restored Maico dirt bikes.  When I was a kid these things were considered top-of-the-line and I do not recall ever seeing one in my hometown.

I think there is one more gallery to go from this show.  Come back and see….
