2018 Hot Rod Hullabaloo Photo Coverage: More Images From The Wet n’ Wild Gathering!

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – The Hullabaloo is the pinnacle event of many throughout the year to raise money for Shelby’s Way and to spread the message of suicide prevention awareness, community, and awareness.  Mark Cain is the director of Shelby’s Way and he works selflessly orchestrating these events and helping others.  The Hullabaloo is a free event and instead of charging they have raffles of one big item every year and several small things.  This year it was a fully-dressed small-block Chevy.  In previous years they’ve offered up stuff from a complete Model A chassis to a teardrop camper.  They also accept donations, but the fund-raising is not amounting to enough to help out as much as they’d like to.  Mark is an accomplished car builder and is the proprietor of Shelby’s Speed & Custom which doubles as the headquarters for the non-profit.  His most-recent 3-window Deuce is a looker and has gathered several awards in the past two years.  Together with the Shelby’s Way board of directors they’ve decided to build a rod and sell it.  They will do as much of the work in-house as they can and get as many donations and discounts for the rest so most of the proceeds of the sale will go directly to supporting the mission.  We’ll try to follow along on the build and bring you some of the progress.

Mentioning a few of the cars in this group:

The Go Mango 1970 Super Bee is one the nicest I have ever seen.  The jacket laying on the back seat is so cool.

I like ’39 Chevys.  I really like the green one here.  There is at least one more photo of it in our coverage.

So I’ve been around a while and I didn’t know a non-intercooled, turbo 2.3 1984 Mustang GT convertible was a thing.  Well, it is.  A little more than 100 were made that year and it was more expensive than the 302-powered version.

This ’67 Mustang coupe has made the event most of the years we’ve been going and I still like it’s understated and old school look.

Hope you all are liking this stuff.  Next up are photos from the rain from downpour to light sprinkles.
