Here in the USA when we think of Motorcraft sponsored race cars we have visions of Bob Glidden, Wood Brothers NASCAR stock cars, and Mark Oswald in a nitro funny car, right? These days it is Bob Tasca carrying the banner on his NHRA nitro funny car in a high profile role. But what about overseas? Sure, Ford’s a global company but does the Motorcraft brand reach outside our shores? Hell yes it does and in this case you are going to see the name on a bad ass Ford Capri being road raced by a dude who uses its 3.0L engine to carve up the field like a Sunday ham. Seriously, this guy has the juju, the horsepower, and the skill to kick some ass and he does.
The announcers seem to be slightly confused about who is in the car because we see an on-screen graphic that states the driver is Emanuele Pirro but then they are constantly talking about John Young piloting the car. Whoever it is, they can wheel and they have some guts. You’ll see the Capri out horsepower a couple of cars on the straight but in a more common occurrence you will see the Capri brake later and carry way more speed through the corners.
There is a great dice when 4-5 cars get bunched in a pack and battle for position. It takes some skill and good decision making for our hero to get thorough but as you will see, he does with aplomb.
