Well this is absolutely flippin’ awesome! We randomly stumbled over this stop action video of a Hot Wheels demolition derby and it is so cool that we can hardly stand it. The amount of work that went into this is astounding and the amount of detail that it exhibits is also amazing. From the opening scene with the tractor unloading the barriers to build the competition area, to the way the cars actually crash into each other, to the rather macabre ending, we were watching with our jaw agape the whole time.
The guy who made this hot wheels demolition derby video has a beyond huge collection of diecast cars and he does all kinds of neat things with them. Just the work that went into building the background and “set” for this video is beyond anything we could have imagined. He has sound dubbed over the video and even that is done in a pretty awesome way that comes off as authentic.
When you think about what had to happen to make this work, the thousands and thousands of photos that had to have been taken, the finite moves of each individual car through the scene and just planning it all out, your head will explode. It is hard enough to film a decent video when it doesn’t involve this much planning, precision, and final editing.
This is not only one of the coolest videos of 2016 it is one of the coolest videos we have ever posted on BangShift and we think it deserves a watch. Hey, what else are you going to do on a freezing cold winter Friday. Hot Wheels demolition derby sounds pretty good to us right about now!
