If you have been following along with the AutoMeter Garage series you know that the guys have really done a nice job of upgrading their project EVO. The car started life as a bone stocker and it now has a couple hundred extra horsepower, loads of cool AutoMeter parts, and better suspension and stance than stock. With all of the extra horsepower, the guys had pretty well found the limits of the stock unit and they needed to swap in a high performance piece. The crew jumped in the car and headed to Michigan to the Exedy clutch factory and it was there that they swapped out the stocker for a much more robust piece.
The cool thing about these episodes is the fact that they take you through the whole job. To be honest, it is a pretty big one in a car like this with all wheel drive. Just getting the old stuff out is a bunch of work but like anything in hot rodding, the easy stuff is never good and the good stuff is never easy. You’ll see every step of the process from the first bolt to the last and along the way the guys sprinkle in some cool information, action, and features as well.
Thinking about doing a clutch swap on your EVO? Here’s a blow by blow account that illustrates the job as well or better than anything else you’ll ever see.
