We’re fans of G-Bodies around here and usually of the drag racing variety, but G-Bodies are a great platform for a pro-touring project as there are tons of parts available and with some simple tweaks the suspension geometry can be great for handling on your favorite autocross or road course. This 1979 is a desirable year and super super clean at only $5000. Plus the interior is disco cool and clean as hell. We’d race the snot out of this thing and have some fun with Corvette guys on the local freeway off-ramps.
If it was ours we’d swap out the control arms up front, put a taller spindle on it and put a good dropped coil in it. Out back we’d get rid of the factory stamped trailing arms and replace them with tubular parts and a good progressive rate spring. Some good Ridetech adjustable shocks would make this thing great. A set of 18’s from Forgeline are pricy but would fill the wheel wells like a champ.
A junkyard 5.3 with a cam and some cylinder head tweaks makes 500 horsepower and American Powertrain has a six speed for it that makes it a riot.
Here is what the seller has to say about it.
