This Buick Has Been Sitting In A Barn Since The 1930’s!

Everyone loves a good barn find, probably because it’s as much about how the car got there in the first place as it the car itself. In fact, something that has been sitting for decades in dark storage is way cooler than the same car that’s been sitting in your neighbors yard. Even some fairly mundane and not very desirable rides have become everyone’s dream after sitting in a barn somewhere without anyone knowing about it. I’m not sure exactly how rare a 1929 Buick Sedan is, but considering that you don’t see them around much they must be pretty rare. And I am pretty sure that there aren’t many that have as cool a story as this one. After all, it’s been sitting in a barn since the 1930’s and was just pulled out into the light of day for the first time. And not only that, but the seller did some test cleaning and reports that the paint might actually come back to looking pretty good! All the original parts are on this sucker and it is a true time capsule for sure.

Engine does not run from sitting in storage since the 1930’s but is in tact. Buffing paint revealed beautiful dark green metallic paint with finish still in tact under oxidation. Although I`m no authority on this,I have done restoration work on Packards ,Buicks and other higher end autos dating back as early as 1924 models. I have seen various colors using very fine metallic on these cars starting about 1928 or 29..Could be original. The old school restoration guys I`ve met say DuPont accidentally created metallic lacquer in the early 30`s.

It appears the tide has moved away from the big $$$ for barn finds, collectibles, and nostalgia stuff.

The time to cash in on this stuff has passed a long time ago.

As the usa falls further into depression thanks to collapsed crude prices, bank frauds, and high unemployment, it is a BUYER’S Market for these items.

If the person who buys it doesn’t want the engine, I’d take it if for no other reason that I have the desire to build a Bonneville car with the forgotten Buick OHV I6.

Love the car (of course since it’s both a Buick and dark green). Hope someone puts it back together and gets it on the road again. I wonder if the AACA pre-war Buick guys have seen this?

Hell, we got a ’34 dodge sedan a local guy dug out of a barn in Utah better looking than that. Right here in lil old Morgantown, Ky!
