Australian V8 Supercars Video: Crashing At Bathurst Is Nothing New, But In Practice?!

Our buddy Sean, a huge Australian V8 Supercars fan, sent us the link to this cool video from Bathurst where Lowndes and Luff came together during practice of all things. As if Bathurst wasn’t a dangerous enough circuit during racing conditions, it appears that it will tear up plenty of hardware during practice as well. This one is a strange one too, in that it looked almost like an attempt to go low and underneath for a pass that went horribly wrong. That’s NOT what it is, but it sure looks like it at first.

Luff is hauling the mail behind Lowndes as they come into a right hander, and for some reason he just doesn’t seem to slow down until it time to SLOW DOWN in a hurry and that’s when things go wrong. Luff slides sideways, doing everything he possibly can to miss Lowndes, but gathers him up nonetheless, sending both of them into the tire barrier and catch fence.

We love V8 Supercars, and wish that half of the racing here in the States was this good.

Check out the video below.

at one point in Sunday’s race the safety car was called out because of a kangaroo on the circuit…not the 1st time that’s happened either….believe me, from personal experience you do not want to hit a roo at speed…

Warren Luff had total brake failure. Bit difficult to stop by the time that is apparent. Both drivers OK & in fact Lowndes car was repaired in time to compete in the top ten shootout.
