A Hemi Superbird is a bad ass no matter what, but when it is an actual race car and that race car belonged to Richard Petty, it’s truly something special. In this cool video from the Petty family you are going to see them get this thing running after sitting, and then Kyle himself is going to take it for a bit of a ride. It must be cool being able to just drive this thing around, which is super cool when your name is Petty.

Didn’t they make 3 “original” cars back then? The one in the museum, the one that Todd Warner sold at Mecum Harrisburg a few years ago, and one that a friend of the family bought soon after the 1970 season was over. just wondered.
There were lots of cars in the museum parking lot. Did any of those people know he was gonna test drive the car that day? Bet they went nuts when that thing came around the corner.
Must be nice to drive a race car around with open pipes in NC. If I had a pinhole in a muffler where I live in PA I’d be arrested before I got out of my driveway.
I had to laugh when at the end of the drive Kyle reached for the quick connect to remove the steering wheel and it wasn’t there.
