You Brought A LaFerrari To A Top Speed Meet, And You Just Got Beat By A Nissan SUV With An Unpronounceable Name

You Brought A LaFerrari To A Top Speed Meet, And You Just Got Beat By A Nissan SUV With An Unpronounceable Name

There aren’t many good places in the United Kingdom to stretch out the legs of a car that is capable of hitting 200 mph, and it seems that the only good spots that can work are airports. So when Evo Magazine hosted their invite-only evoMax event on the two-mile runway of Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome, it was without a question that some of the fastest noisemakers in the English countryside would make the trek out to get the chance to go WFO and see what their car was really made to do.

A lot of the usual suspects show up: GT-R’s, Porsches of all manner of type and tune, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Nobles, a Bugatti, and even a couple of Ford GT’s are in the run, and that’s just a selection. The top speeds for the day were taken 1-2 by modified Porsches (one of which holds the vMax event record at 229+mph in two miles!) but #3 is one hell of a surprise: It’s a Nissan Qashqai (say cash-kai) that is packing the floor pan and running gear from a Nissan GT-R, and a extremely worked over version of the GT-R’s V6 that pushes over 1100hp. The Qashqai is a seven-passenger SUV that is just a bigger than the Nissan Rogue SUV we get here in the States. I’m sure more than a couple of egos were kicked in over losing to a white SUV that sounds like a vacuum cleaner on a mission from God.

The video below showcases the event and several of the cars that attended. There’s some killer exhaust notes in there, so crank your speakers and enjoy!

You can bet Ferrari is pissed off. They usually don’t allow their cars at these sort of events unless the odds are stacked in their favor.
