When the Los Angeles Career Center decides to do something, they go all in. Given the fact that Southern California is the epicenter of hot rodding and racing, it makes sense that a project like this would come out of the southland. And this isn’t just some simple Camaro restoration. This thing has virtually nothing left on it that hasn’t been touched, massaged, modified, or customized, and man is it cool. Most school shop projects end with a grade. This one ended up at SEMA and PRI!
Starting with a rust-ravaged 1968 Camaro, the students at Los Angeles Career Center transformed it into a purpose-built drift machine loaded with cutting-edge engineering and old-school muscle. Every carbon fiber body panel, the custom cantilever rear suspension, widebody conversion, and much of the fabrication was designed and built entirely by students learning real-world welding, composites, CAD/CAM, bodywork, and performance fabrication.
Under the hood, a Blueprint LS topped with a Magnuson 2650 Supercharger breathes through dual drive-by-wire throttle bodies controlled by a Holley Dominator EFI ECU.
Supporting hardware includes a Holley wiring harness, Holley Pro Dash, Holley valve covers, Frostbite radiator, Detroit Speed front subframe, QA1 suspension, and Baer brakes.
