(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – Square-bodies, Mopars, and really big trucks.  See what happens when you move in closer to the city’s center.  This is getting into the premium spots to get your car noticed and snagging one of these will require an earlier start than I managed.  If you can score a spot nearer to the courthouse odds are nearly everyone in attendance is going to pass by at some point during the day.  This event has grown so much and as the day progressed more and more arrive until most or all of the allotted space is exhausted.  Not a bad problem to have considering this is likely one of the largest one-day events drawing tourists in this area.

Shortly after the two TBSS (TrailBlazer SS), our tour turns at the end of the block and heads towards the firehouse.  The main food vendor area was just this side of it.  We do a 180 and pass into at least two blocks of heavy rigs that will continue into the next gallery.

For the Mopar folks we pass by Road Runners, ‘Cudas, and Challengers, both young and old.  The real-estate hog award goes to the black Lincoln Continental Mark IV.  That thing must be like driving a bus.

Let me draw your attention to the white, straight-axle Fairlane.  It sits high, but not too high.  It’s got some Thunderbolt styling, but not too much.  It’s Ford-powered which is not as common in straight-axle cars.  This is one clean ride that appears to be a solid driver.

Now crossing the street in the opposite direction we are greeted by a purple and grey GMC General hauling an old Pete pulling truck.  It’d been nice to hear that start up with the sound reflecting against the buildings.  This gorgeous old Mack appeared more cruiser than worker, but I am fairly certain most of these still put in some labor even if it is just for fun.

Only two more to go so comeback and check them out.
