Normally we do the whole “displacement celebration” stuff during the months of March and April. Makes sense as many of the engines we love around here range from 300-400 cubic inches, right? Well I’m thinking out of the box today. 3.4L is damned close to 207ci depending on how you slice it up and because today is a slow news day, I decided to investigate some 207ci fun on the internet and know what? I found some really neat and highly impressive engines making great power in interesting ways! A multitude of companies have made 3.4L engines ranging from GM to Porsche, Toyota, and more. The GM version was a 60-degree V6, the Toyota version was also a V6 and while the Toyota 2JZ started life as a 3.0L inline engine, the ones you see here have been engorged to 3.4L displacement.
There are a TON of 3.4L GM engines out there making stupid power on boost. Remember, the 3.1L engines were factory boosted by McLaren for a limited run of Pontiacs back in the day. The ones you see here have all been modified by hot rodders and they make more than respectable snot, in our opinion at last.
That little red Toyota truck though? That son of a bitch if a monster. 800+ at the tires out of a measly little engine. Modern hot rodding is lots more than the LS engine people!
Watch These 3.4L, 207ci make power! Some weird engine combos to enjoy!
The gm 60 degree v6s are some of my favorite non v8 engines. The guys swapping in boosted 3800s should take a long hard look at the 3.9l 60 degree v6. Smaller, lighter package, almost as powerful as the stock supercharged 3800, piston oil squirters, a bottom end that\’s tough as nails… There\’s a long list of reasons to choose it over the 3800 (which is my favorite 90 degree v6)
