Commissioners In Trouble After Texts Involving Brazil V8 Stock Car Driver Come To Light

With racing season kicking off this past weekend for Brazil V8 Stock Car racing, the timing couldn’t possibly be any worse for a great big scandal involving two CBA (Confederação Brasileira de Automobilismo, Brazillian Confederation of Motorsport) commissioners and texts passed back and forth between them on the WhatsApp texting service about penalties handed down during last year’s season, namely with star Chevrolet driver Cacá Bueno, according to motorsport.com. Bueno is a five-time stock car champion and has taken his Red Bull Racing Chevrolet Sonic to 210 MPH at Bonneville in the past.

Some background: during a race at Ribeirao Preto last year, Bueno won the event, but because the flagman didn’t waive the checkered flag for him, Bueno and second-place driver Marcos Gomes had to run one more lap to cross under checkered flag. While the two cars were on the track at full speed, track vehicles entered the course, prompting Bueno to blast the CBA as “a bunch of imbeciles” over the radio. Right or wrong, the outburst cost Bueno two races as punishment.

According to the Folha de S. Paolo newspaper, who published the WhatsApp conversation, assistant CBA commissioner Paulo Ygor Dias wrote, ““Let’s disqualify him (Bueno) for something in the next race (after Ribeirao Preto). I wanna see him pissed off… (laughs). This sucker was talking shit for a long time. We have to f**k him and Thiago Camilo (another driver). They are the most boring guys.” Another commissioner, Clovis Matsumoto, followed up: “Well, on my time Caca was three times runner-up because I was not in the mood of letting him be the champion!” Dias follows up: “I remember the time of Matsu, and also it’s not too long that he wasn’t the champion after some points that we took from him…”

It doesn’t take much to see what’s really going on…two commissioners with some kind of vendetta against Bueno appear to be using their power to screw over a driver who is critical of the sanctioning body. Naturally, Bueno is enraged and believes that the texts basically represent a confession. He also has said that he isn’t surprised, which really makes one wonder just what the deal is between him and the CBA. In their defense, Dias and Matsumoto claim that the texts were a joke and that the rules and regulations of the CBA prevented them from creating punishments.

Here’s to a fantastic start to the racing season in Brazil…you might want to watch out for the dark blue Chevy. We’ve heard that he’s a little bit pissed off.

I’m not really surprised to hear that it was taking place only that they got caught. After all, the taxi cab spec series has had that problem for a long time and I can remember more than a few 1/4 mile aces who had the same problem in the past. It’s not always true that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, sometimes they just get the shaft..
