(Photos by Wes Allison) – That lead image? That is basically peak Vega. The turbine wheels, the orange on whatever the hell color that is, the square snorkel scoop. Yes, there’s no more Vega to get than that and we love it. There was a time we might have said a negative thing about a car like this but we were young and dumb and didn’t get it. Now we do. This thing is an awesome picture of an era that has largely passed in hot rodding but when you see it at a show like Cruisin’ For A Cure, it all comes together. Kids get to see this thing. Dads get to tell stories, everyone wins.
Some would see this car as something that needed to be “updated”. Then what? Then the Vega looks like every other modern build out there? Nahhhh. Leave it like this forever and enjoy it. There’s loads of other cool cars in here too but for whatever reason this thing really stuck to our ribs. We dig it for sure.
