(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – We are fairly regular on keeping up with the local cruise-in scene and one thing we like about the Rod Run is that it brings out cars we seldom see and a bunch that we’ve never seen before. When we’re shooting photos we do try to not take photos of the same old stuff unless it has changes or we get a new, interesting snap of it.
One thing you get at an event with such variety are glimpses of styles that frankly, aren’t in style any more. That’s a good thing. Some are timeless and some are definitely not, but you get to see what is and was popular at one time which also includes some very short-lived (thank goodness) fads. I am not hacking on anyone’s car in any of the photo coverage from this event. Remember, I don’t take photos of stuff I don’t want scorching your eyes or causing nightmares. There’s old, new, classic and an abundance of traditional muscle car era stuff.
Following the Rod Run there is a gathering at a local Hardees and another place across Hwy 27. Lots less walking here and more talking….with a few photos. Sort of a relaxed ‘after party’ thing. The whole day is really a family-friendly atmosphere and a good way to wear yourself out geeking at cars all day.
Enjoy.
