The entire time that Piotr Wiecek and “Danger Dan” from Hoonigan are moving in this Euro-market Honda Civic, the laughter doesn’t stop. Not one second. Why is that? Let’s look at the title I used and review two particular notes. One is “Driving a slow car fast”. This might go against the normal train of thought that says you need massive horsepower and the ability to pull a g-load like a jet fighter to have fun in a car, but be honest: some of the most fun you ever had was probably done in the beater you drove through high school and/or college. In fact, if you’re about my age, I’m pretty certain that there’s quite a few of you who should be familiar with what a mid-to-late 1990s Civic can tolerate. Right? Yeah, we thought so.

The other side is the term, “Hell Ride”. I’m using the term as I was brought up to understand it, which means that pretty much anything goes and the purpose is to scare the holy hell out of whoever the unfortunate soul in the passenger seat is. Drifting? Jumping? Short of vehicular manslaughter, go for broke. The out-of-control nature is part of the fun. Given that Wiecek is a Formula Drift star and that Dan is more than capable of wheeling a car around himself, the injury factor is low. Not absent, just low. The Civic, on the other hand, never signed up for this kind of stuntwork…
