Engine swaps are a thing that has become so commonplace in hot rodding that you really have to do something amazing to blow people away. It just so happens that Minnesota’s Nathan Mueller is that guy. You may remember a video that appeared on the internet that showed someone who had swapped a Cummins diesel into a late model style Dodge Charger. That was him. You likely do not know that he just finished up a Duramax swap into a fifth-generation Camaro. You are going to go looking for the photos of the turbos coming out of the hood, some weird exhaust stack or something else but you’ll never find it. The Duramax fifth-gen Camaro and the Cummins Charger look factory stock. Literally.
The shock value in these swaps goes so far beyond fact that it is “diesel in a car” that you really have to check out the story at the link below. Yes, I did write it but I am not sending you there just for that. I am sending you there because these cars are so BangShifty and awesome you have to check it out. No one makes a “swap kit” for these jobs. No one makes a manual for doing what Nathan has done here and he’s rightfully proud.
I’m not going to give away the hows and the whys here. You need to read the story for that but understand that all the gauges work in these cars, he has driven them thousands of miles, and they are as complete and streetable as anything you could possibly imagine on the street. The Cummins is more powerful (so far) but the Camaro is way lighter. The Charger sounds like a Kenworth, the Camaro is more subtle but they will both blister the tires for as long and as hard as Nate wants.
The guy is awesome, the cars are better, you gotta read this!
