This weekend Chad is at the Goodguys Del Mar autocross flapping his gums and keeping the masses informed and entertained as they watch a host of cool muscle cars attack the cones. The Goodguys autocross series has been a very influential part of the pro touring movement, spawning lots of the culture that we see with series like the Ultimate Street Car Association, the American Street Car Series and others. Amazingly, Chad has lent his voice to all of those different groups at one time or another, which is pretty neat as far as being an announcer goes. The level of competition at the Goodguys series has escalated as hotly as the technology available to make muscle cars work so well in the corners has.
This show in southern California is always a big one for the Goodguys organization because it draws so many cars and so many people from all over the region. Chad has told us that since the Goodguys autocross series started the number of people participating has sky rocketed. From the days of yelling at the crowd to get their cars over and onto the track to basically having to set entry limits at events, the culture of “using your car” certainly reigns supreme today.
This is a cool gallery of muscle cars and only muscle cars hammering the course at Del Mar. Get into your junk and have some fun with it today after checking out these photos!

Auto X “lite”. Lot too small, too many cones, no helmets. Find an SCCA club and run the new “Classic American Muscle” class.
I applaud Goodguys turning their lawn chair shows into a show where people get out and have fun with their cars.
Chad, from the look of those cones, it looks like Peyton the cone chaser was busy Friday.
Good Guys has created a great gathering of Vintage Autocrossed Muscle cars. With their growth of cars in Del Mar. Our San Diego Region SCCA has benefited.A great exhibition event introducing folks to autocross across the USA.I think that is Matt A. squashing a cone in the 69 Camaro. With our local number of SCCA muscle cars being 4 before the GG drivers started coming 18 months ago.We could see # in the 20s now.I’d call it a partnership in autocross.
